Ben Lomond Historic Site

Ben Lomond is an antebellum farm that served as a hospital during the Civil War. The home was referenced in many Civil War Era documents as the Pringle House because of the men who lived here in 1861. Many of the soldiers that were brought to the hospital penned their names and brief messages on the walls of the home.

The Brentsville site consists of 28 acres with five historic buildings and various archaeological sites. These include the 1822 Courthouse and Jail, the ca. 1830 John Hall Home, ca. 1875 Union Church and the 1928 One Room Schoolhouse and the Brentsville Tavern archaeological site. The site also includes a mile long nature trail highlighting the area’s natural resources.

Conway Robinson State Forest

Gainesville, Virginia

Conway Robinson State Forest is part of Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail; located just west of the Battlefield on Route 29, borders Little Bull Run. This 450-acre forest includes a mix of conifers and deciduous trees that blanket several low, wet areas with interesting plants, such as pink lady's slippers. Conway Robinson State Forest is highly valued by nature lovers and a popular equestrian site.

The museum interprets the history of Manassas and the Northern Virginia Piedmont region, with exhibits such as Civil War weapons and uniforms, railroad memorabilia, quilts and more.

The museum depicts 110 years of fire fighting history and displays original equipment used from 1909 to the present including four antique fire engines, volunteer alerting systems, uniforms, and pictures.

Located west of the intersection of Aden Road and Fleetwood Drive, protects nearly one mile of shoreline along Cedar Run. This 302-acre Wildlife Management Area, includes more than 100 acres of contiguous floodplain wetlands, and a diversity of plant and animal communities. It's a great place to watch wildlife.
