Waugh House

Greenville, Pennsylvania

History, Historic House, Historical Society

Built in 1826 it is the oldest brick house in Greenville and one of the earliest brick houses between Pittsburgh and Erie. The Federal style architecture has been preserved and the stepped gables and tripartite window are original. It is within a block of the site of the first building (Shank's Tavern) in Greenville and is highly visible from the south or west. It is adjacent to two other vintage buildings - the Hillside Presbyterian Church and the former Margaret Brown School - now St. Michael's Elementary School.
