The Cooperstown Graduate Program -
Giving students the tools to make a difference

The Cooperstown Graduate Program (CGP) is the premiere program for the training of museum professionals in the United States. It is a unique public-private partnership between the State University of New York College at Oneonta, the degree granting institution, and the New York State Historical Association (NYSHA), the museum laboratory. Courses are taught by historians, art historians and managers with expertise in museum work. Many course are taught on the museum campus.

CGP offers an intensive two-year course of study leading to a Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies.

HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY MUSEUM

The Hofstra University Museum presents between 6-8 original exhibitions per year in its two galleries. Exhibitions feature works by contemporary artists, artists and works from the past and from various world cultures, as well as works from our permanent collections. The Museum borrows works from other institutions from time to time, and does occasionally offer exhibitions generated at Hofstra to other institutions. As one example, the 2009 original exhibition "Tranquil Power: The Art of Perle Fine," will be traveling in 2012 to three other venues.

Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery

Modeled on a laboratory, the gallery presents exhibitions and related programming that reflect the diversity of interests and approaches to the arts at Columbia and embody the university's high standards for research and instruction. Exhibitions are drawn from public and private collections as well as from university collections.

Currently, the combined libraries (Main Campus, Music, and West Seneca) have more than 246,000 volumes, subscribe to over 500 print periodical titles (with over 3700 available online), and have seating for 257 patrons. In addition to the main circulating collection the libraries also house several special collections: Reference Collection, Juvenile Collection, Nicholson Collection, School of Music performances, Buffalo Bible Institute.

West Point Museum

As a department of the United States Military Academy, the Museum supports cadet academic, military and cultural instruction. Its collections include nearly all aspects of military history and encompass the history of West Point and the United States Military Academy, the evolution of warfare, and the development of the American Armed Forces. While only a portion of the collection is on display, all artifacts are available for cadet academic instruction, special exhibition and research.

Yeshiva University Museum

Since its founding in 1973, Yeshiva University Museum's changing exhibits have celebrated the culturally diverse intellectual and artistic achievements of 3,000 years of Jewish experience. The Museum provides a window into Jewish culture around the world and throughout history through its acclaimed multi-disciplinary exhibitions and award-winning publications. By educating audiences of all ages with dynamic interpretations of Jewish life, past and present, along with wide-ranging cultural offerings and programs, the Museum attracts young and old, Jewish and non-Jewish audiences.

Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art

Funds for the building were donated by Herbert F. Johnson, a graduate of Cornell's Class of 1922, the late president and chairman of S C Johnson of Racine, Wisconsin.

Institute for the Study of the Ancient World

ISAW is a center for advanced scholarly research and graduate education, intended to cultivate comparative and connective investigations of the ancient world. It will feature doctoral and postdoctoral programs, with the aim of training a new generation of scholars who will enter the global academic community and become intellectual leaders. In an effort to embrace a truly inclusive geographical scope while maintaining continuity and coherence, the Institute will focus on the shared and overlapping periods in the development of cultures and civilizations around the Mediterranean basin, and across central Asia to the Pacific Ocean.
