The Dallas Holocaust Museum, Center for Education and Tolerance, is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching the lessons of the Holocaust and memorializing its victims. It provides guided tours for groups, public lectures and exhibits, and other programming. The Museum has a collection of audiovisual materials including videotapes, slides, and microfiche. It also serves as a coordinator for videotaping testimonies of Holocaust survivors experiences as well as liberators of the concentration camps.

I hope you don t go into shock as you read of the flavor and spirit of our institution. You will instantly realize we are nonprofessional, unique in mission, and strange in operational practices. But before you toss us aside, please also be aware of our success.

A steering committee of barbed wire collectors was formed in August 1990, to establish a museum to house the many collections, personally owned, and to keep them out of estate sales and auctions conducted by nearest of kin. Our mission would be to collect and display every known wire-related artifact, along with every written word on the subject.

The Depot Museum interpretates Rusk County heritage and culture. The museum has eleven structure on four acres of land the the tell story of pioneers, treasure hunters and wild catters. The history dates from primative Caddo indians to 1947 formation of the Henderson Brick Plant. New this year will be opening of a restored cotton gin. The museum tells the economic history of the county with its cotton gin, sawmill and oil derrick.

Join us in Milledgeville, Georgia, for the annual Georgia Association of Museums conference as we explore the profound wisdom of Milledgeville author Flannery O'Connor’s words. In a world where narratives intersect and perspectives diverge, this theme invites proposals that delve into the essence of storytelling within museums and cultural institutions. Our work in the museum field requires us to look at stories from as many angles and perspectives as possible so that we might do our best to tell the “whole story.

Through thought-provoking discussions, interactive workshops, and engaging presentations, we will uncover the layers of meaning embedded within every artifact, exhibition, and historical account. Just as O’Connor masterfully crafted narratives that resonate with universal truths, museums hold the power to illuminate the whole story behind many objects, artworks, and cultural phenomena

We will examine how museums can embrace inclusivity, diversity, and authenticity in their storytelling practices. By acknowledging multiple perspectives and amplifying marginalized voices, we can enrich our understanding of the past and present, fostering empathy and connection within our communities.
