The grandiose Schepis building, built in 1916 has been the home of the Schepis Museum since 1993, and is the backdrop for the charming town of Columbia, which nestles along the banks of the Ouachita River. Located inside the old Town Hall & Marshall's Office, on the second floor of the building is the home of the Slidell's Mardi Gras Museum, which houses a collection of over 800 pieces of Carnival memorabilia-dresses, costumes, scepters, goblets and throws, and historical scrapbooks of past kings and queens. This is an excellent place to visit with out-of-town guests who may not have had the opportunity to experience Mardi Gras first hand.
