Frying Pan Park preserves a piece of Fairfax County's rural heritage with it's working demonstration farm. Kidwell Farm recreates the era of 1920-1950, when family dairy farms blanketed the landscape. This was a period of great transition in agricultural technology. Kidwell Farm provides a glimpse of the patterns of family farming.The site includes the Kidwell farm, an equestrian center, a schoolhouse and a blacksmith shop.

History, Historic House, Historical Society

The depot, c. 1857, is home to Herndon Historical Society.The Herndon Museum houses railroad memorabilia, information on Commander William Lewis Herndon, for whom the town was named; and artifacts from local residents. Operated by the Historical Society of Herndon, the building dates back to the 1850s and served as a train station until 1968
