CCMF encourages new research on Calvin Coolidge and publishes The Real Calvin Coolidge. Volunteers submit excellent articles. Visit our Bookstore to obtain a copy.
The Foundation owns and operates the Union Church which is available for weddings. The Museum great hall is available for wedding receptions, meetings, special events, and programs. There is a gift shop in the musuem; The Wilder House Restaurant is in the village of Plymouth Notch. Tours are available May-October.
The Foundation was formed in part to redress the fact that there is no federally funded presidential library for Calvin Coolidge, our 30th U.S. President. John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Herbert Hoover, and Jacqueline B. Kennedy are among the many Sponsors and National Advisory Board members over the last 50 years. The Foundation preserves the Coolidge's legacy, and provides primary and interpretive information through a Website and by request, to teachers and students, scholars, the media and the general public. The Coolidge Foundation owns and maintains its offices in the President Calvin Coolidge Museum and Education Center in Plymouth Notch Vermont.

Description.History=The Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation, Inc. was established in 1960 by a group of Coolidge enthusiasts including John Coolidge, the son of President and Mrs. Coolidge; Franklin S. Billings, Jr., Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court; Edward Connery Lathem, Dartmouth College Librarian and Dean of the Libraries and distinguished author; Vrest Orton; Consuelo Northrup Bailey; Deane C. Davis and other such luminaries of the period. In 2010, the Foundation moved into new offices in the Calvin Coolidge Museum and Education Center. Our vision statement is to be the gateway to all things Coolidge.
Plymouth Notch, Vermont is the birthplace and boyhood home of Calvin Coolidge, 30th President of the United States. The village is virtually unchanged since the early 20th century. The homes of Calvin Coolidge's family and neighbors, the community church, cheese factory, one-room schoolhouse, and general store have been carefully preserved, and many of the buildings have their original furnishings. The President is buried in the town cemetery. A National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the village has been designated as the "Plymouth Notch Historic District" and is owned and operated by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation. The site's office, located in the Aldrich House, is open weekdays, year-round and has exhibits especially designed for winter visitors.
The Foundation encourages new research, conferences and symposiums. CCMF worked with the John F. Kennedy Library to present an academic conference on the life and political influence of Calvin Coolidge on July 30 & 31, 1998 in conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the Homestead Inaugural. Speakers included Michael S. Dukakis, former governor of Massachusetts, Professor Robert E. Gilbert of Northeastern University, and Robert Sobel, the recent biographer of Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge family members also spoke. Sheldon Stern, historian at the Kennedy Library and Jim Cooke, the solo historical interpreter of Calvin Coolidge, were co-planners. The transcript produced by the conference was printed in The New England Journal of History and sent to teachers throughout New England. These papers, along with many other examples of Coolidge research, can now be found on this web site in our Research section.
Many educational initiatives have been developed and encouraged by the CCMF board of trustees and its Education Committee.
The Foundation sponsors an annual educational contest for Vermont school children to write essays or develop projects about Calvin Coolidge.

Our "living history" video, "Calvin Coolidge: More than Two Words," featuring Jim Cooke has been completed. The foundation commissioned film maker Charles Rattigan to produce and direct the video. Order the video or download the study guide (445kb PDF file).
Elderhostels are arranged with the Coolidge Foundation and the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation during the season. Jim Cooke performs for the participants and Cyndy Bittinger, our former Executive Director, gives an overview of Vermont history and tells First Lady Grace Coolidge's story.

In 2010, the Foundation celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a daytime symposium and evening gala dinner. The symposium featured the following speakers: Amity Shlaes, L. John Van Til, Alvin Felzenberg, Michael Dukakis, Joe Thorndyke, Carl Anthony, Garland Tucker, Martha Joynt Kumar, Sarwar Kashmeri, Milt Valera of the NNA, David Pietrusza. John C. "Jack" Bogle, founder of The Vanguard Group, served as keynote speaker for the gala dinner.

The Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation, Inc. is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and a smaller Executive Committee chosen from their ranks.
The National Advisory Board increases, on a national level, the public awareness and support for the initiatives of the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation. Through the influence of this Board, CCMF benefits and gains visibility in the areas of education, collections and archives, membership, volunteers and fund raising. The National Advisory Board also offers advice on decision- making and future planning.
The diversity of the members, as well as their collective knowledge, affords the opportunity to identify individuals who could become future candidates for this board. Members of the National Advisory Board are drawn from a wide diversity of occupations such as academics, historians, journalists, writers, civic and business leaders, prominent citizens and philanthropists.

The Foundation issues a newsletter in spring, summer and fall. Annual Meeting is held on the Saturday in August closest to August 3rd, Coolidge's inauguration date. An annual report is issued at that meeting.
