The Museum was created by the King and Queen Historical Society through the efforts of a small group of enthusiastic citizens interested in preserving and communicating county history. It opened in May 2001 and has continued to operate through the dedication of volunteers.
The Courthouse Tavern building dates from 1800 and today serves as a museum housing informative exhibits depicting the history of King and Queen County and how its residents lived from the pre-Colonial Native American era to the mid-Twentieth Century. View a brief tour of the facility and visit us to see much more.
The Museum is located in the Historic Courthouse Green that is on the National Register of Historic Places. View to see the other nearby places of interest.
