The Vineland Historical & Antiquarian Society, formed in 1864, is the oldest local historical society in the state of New Jersey.
The Society's mission is to collect objects and records that reflect Vineland and its inhabitants, from the early days of settlement through modern times.
The Society is a private, non-profit institution that has continued to document the history of Vineland since it was formed. Its home is a 101-year-old museum built in the downtown area in 1910 to house the collections.
The Society has a diverse collection that includes glassware, clothing, household goods, maps, and paintings, as well as Civil War memorabilia, and an extensive collection related to the women's suffrage movement.
The research library includes more than 6,000 books on genealogy and local history.
Due to a recent change in administration, educational programs will be offered on a limited basis for the remainder of 2011. Call or e-mail for further information.
Access: General Public, Students, Scholars, Staff Only, Members
