Description

The Omaha Children's Museum is a special place where children can challenge themselves, discover how the world works, and learn through play. It is Omaha's only participatory museum, a place where children and adults can learn and play together. The Museum provides an ever-changing series of interactive exhibits, workshops, and special events. It serves the entire community as well as school groups and a large minority audience.' _Museum.History='The Museum was founded in 1976 as a traveling workshop, and has been located in the heart of downtown Omaha since 1979. Currently, an average of 8,000 children and adults visit the Museum each month. At this time more than 2,500 families are members. Through general admission, field trip visits and outreach programs, the Museum reaches more than 100,000 participants annually.

Mission

Artifact Collections

The Charlie Campbell Science and Technology Center allows kids to explore, create, and observe science and technology in action. The Creative Center is a great exhibit for the budding artist, musician, playwright, or journalist. In the Kids Construction Company, future engineers and architects can build to their hearts content. The Toddler Exploration Center provides an area for little ones between ages 1 - 4 to climb, crawl, create and play, and in Rainbow Farm, children can harvest and plant the garden, explore the pig pen, gather the eggs from the chicken coop, dress up as a barnyard animal and learn to milk a cow.
