Description

Located in a beautifully refurbished plantation superintendent's home, next to Hawaii's last operating sugar mill, the museum exhibits the history and heritage of the sugar industry and the multi-ethnic plantation life it engendered.

Mission

The Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the history and heritage of the sugar industry and the multi-ethnic plantation life which it engendered.

History

Artifact Collections

Six rooms of artifacts, some of which date back to the 1800's. Photo murals, audiovisual presentations, authentic scale models and interactive displays. Outdoor exhibits of plantation equipment.

Educational Programs

The museum's Education Program hosts field trips for elementary school children island wide. Students visit the museum and learn hands on what plantation life was like, with activities such as making "fighting chickens", plantation ice cake, can stilts and more.
