Exhibits and programs interpret the history of cotton agriculture in Arkansas from statehood in 1836 through World War II, when agricultural practices quickly became mechanized. Learn about growing and picking cotton, as well as ginning and storing the seeds. Tour the 1912 museum building, Dortch Gin Building, and Seed Warehouse #5.
Interpretive programs, and guided tours for groups and schools, are available on request. Contact the museum for details.
The museum is in Scott at the junction of U.S. 165 and Ark. 161. Take Exit #7 off I-440 and go south on U.S. 165 five miles to the museum.
The Plantation Agriculture museum exists to collect, preserve, record and interpret the history of cotton agriculture with an emphasis on plantations from 1836, when Arkansas became a state, to the widespread adoption of mechanized agriculture methods (around the end of World War II).
The museum covers the history of cotton agriculture and plantation life from 1836 to World War II.

Historic Preservation Teacher Workshops, Cotton Agriculture Educational Teacher Workshops, educators guide, guided museum tours, various historic crafts workshops, public cotton agriculture and history programs, and exhibits which include: renovated, 2-story 1919 Cotton Gin, historic 1948 seed warehouse, Plantation Life Kitchen, Mule Barn and Equipment, Timeline of Cotton Exhibit, 100 Years of War: Man vs. Boll Weevil, & Bacon, Egss, & More.
