Description

The building was built in 1912. Periodic exhibits, depicting Heard County and early jail history are on display. Genealogical Research Library available.

The museum is operated by the Heard County Government. The Heard County Historical Society supports the musem.

Known as the "Old Jail", it served as county jail and sheriff's residence from 1912 to 1964. The Museum offers a look into the past of this rural community and highlights include the jail cells. The Heard County Jail was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1981.
