History

Founded in 1939, the Hyde Park Art Center is the oldest alternative art space in Chicago. The Art Center presents six exhibits each year along with dozens of art classes for kids 3 to 93 in ceramics, painting, drawing, photography and other visual arts taught by professional artists. The Art Center also supports dozens of art-based community outreach initiatives serving over 4,000 young people annually on the south and west sides of Chicago.
