Description

The National Hellenic Museum is the second oldest American institution dedicated to displaying and celebrating the cultural contributions of Greeks and Greek-Americans.

Exhibits

Discover how the Greek journey has contributed to your own story in the National Hellenic Museum’s permanent and special exhibits. From the myths of Ancient Greece to the latest temporary exhibit, you’ll find something for everyone in these engaging, interactive environments.

Mission

The National Hellenic Museum's mission is to preserve and explore Hellenism and to chronicle the Greek American journey through exhibitions, oral histories, archival collections and education programs. Our purpose is to inspire in people of all backgrounds a curiosity for their own story through a greater connection to Greek history, culture and the arts.

Artifact Collections

The National Hellenic Museum's collection spans thousands of years from 1200 BCE to today. The Museum has approximately 7,000 items in categories that are comprised of antiquities, folk and immigrant artifacts, and modern art. Its collection includes ancient Cypriot ceramics, vintage photographs, housewares, handmade textiles, traditional costumes, musical instruments, documents, immigrant artifacts, and more.

Research Collections

The non-circulating research library is an integral part of the Museum and its educational and custodial mission. The Library's collection is focused primarily on two areas:

Greek Immigrant history and experience in the United States
Artistic and literary work of Hellenic people and the celebration of the Hellenic heritage
The Library primarily collects original source and out-of-print materials.
