Description

Established in 1955, the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society collects and preserves historical material and information relative to Libertyville, Mundelein and surrounding areas in Lake County, Illinois. The 1878 Ansel B. Cook House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is home to the society’s archives and Victorian museum. Please feel free to browse our website to learn more about the society, our events, and ways you can participate in preserving the community's past for future generations!

Our archives

Our archives, housed in the Cook Home, contain thousands of photographs, postcards, and documents. If you have a particular interest or are conducting local history research, please contact Arlene Lane or Sonia Schoenfield for assistance at Cook Memorial Library, (847) 362-2330. While the archives are not open to the public, we would be happy to make available items that will facilitate your work. We will also accomodate Friday visits to the archive by appointment only.

Online exhibits

Local historians Arlene Lane, Sonia Schoenfield, and Laura Hickey have integrated history and modern technology through their online exhibits. Please see our website for details.

Services
Membership

The Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society holds membership meetings at 7:00 PM on the third Mondays of September, October, November, January, February, March, April, and May. At the meetings, a local history program is presented following a brief discussion of Historical Society matters. Refreshments are served at the end of each session. Cook Park Library, 413 N.
