Celebrating the rich history and diversity of Indianapolis' African American Community. Experience one of the Midwest's top African American Museums with a rich collection of African Art!

It is an exciting and provocative history museum that focuses on the legacy of the school and its connection with African and African American History. As an educational facility, the museum celebrates the outstanding contributions made by African Americans through both guided and self-guided tours.

Tours are designed for pre-school age through adult and are wheel chair accessible.

Mission

The Indianapolis Public Schools is proud to be one of the few school districts in the country with a museum that is connected to school curriculum and supports, promotes, celebrates, and embraces cultural competence.

History

The Museum, located on the campus of Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School, opened in May 1998 to give honor and recognition to the historic Crispus AttucksHigh School.

Artifact Collections

The museum's archival collection consist of yearbooks dating back to the turn of the 20th century, plus a vast collection of city and state memorabilia, with an especially rich African/ African-American memorabilia and art collection.
