Description

Hammond-Harwood House is the Jewel of Annapolis, the grandest Colonial house in the town, preserved intact since 1774. It was the last project of the renowned Colonial architect William Buckland. In addition to its magnificent, perfectly preserved architecture inside and out, this National Historic Landmark contains an outstanding collection of John Shaw furniture and Charles Willson Peale paintings.

Mission

The mission of the Hammond-Harwood House Association is to preserve, for public education and enjoyment, the architecturally significant Hammond-Harwood House museum and its collection of fine and decorative arts.

Educational Programs
The THEN AND NOW program is designed for the littlest, most curious minds and can be easily adapted for 5, 6, and 7 year old students.
With the COLONIAL ADVENTURE TOUR, for 3rd - 5th graders, students step back in time as they learn about the lives of men, women, and children living in Maryland during the 1770s.
TO BE A COLONIAL targets grades 6 - 8. The program focuses on the lives of four individuals associated with the Hammond-Harwood House between 1774 - 1820.
READING AND WRITING HISTORY is designed to give high school students a hands-on lesson about Colonial American history.

Membership in the Hammond-Harwood House Association

The Hammond- Harwood House Association is a non-profit organization made up of individuals and families who value the importance of the historic Hammond-Harwood House. We welcome new members who want to help preserve this singular National Historic Landmark. We invite you to join as the Association enters another century of preserving this treasure of Colonial America. From its beginnings in the 1940's, the Association has endeavored to preserve the Hammond-Harwood House for present and future generations. Through its efforts, a wonderful collection of 18th and early 19th century decorative and fine arts have been gathered to create the excellent collection we have today. Be a part of this loving tradition by becoming a member today

Hammond-Harwood House publishes a newsletter several times a year, and updates its website, Facebook page, and blog regularly.

Tours

The House is open for guided tours from noon to 5:00. Tours begin at the top of the hour. The last tour is at 4:00

Shop

Please see our website for a sampling of books, home furnishings, gifts and collectibles inspired by the Hammond-Harwood House collection. These items are in the Museum Store now, and will be available through the web site soon. Please come back, or visit the Hammond-Harwood House Museum Store at 19 Maryland Avenue in Annapolis.

Architecture Tour

We also offer a two-hour, in-depth tour of the architecture of the Hammond-Harwood House. This tour is available by appointment only. Please call 410-263-4683 x10. The cost of the tour is $20, or $15 for HHH members.
