Description

Located on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University, Homewood is one of the nation's best surviving examples of Federal period architecture, a National Historic Landmark, and the source for the campus's architectural vocabulary and name. Restored and opened to the museum in 1987, Homewood provides a year-round calendar of tours, exhibitions, concerts, and educational programs.

Artifact Collections

Architecture (Palladian and Federal), silver, Baltimore furniture, American history. Homewood offers visitors the chance to explore diverse interests in tremendous depth and provides an intimate look at life in early-19th-century Baltimore.

Educational Programs

Homewood Museum provides a year-round calendar of events, including special house tours, concerts, lectures, exhibitions, and docent training.

Homewood’s Museum Shop offers a variety of gifts and books reflecting the history of Homewood, the Carroll family, and life in early Baltimore. Many recent regional titles from the JHU Press are featured in the shop and an annual JHU Press event at Homewood extends a special 25% discount on press titles to Homewood members.

Decorative accessories, estate items, and reproductions relating to Homewood and other museum collections make the shop a perfect place to find unusual gifts or mementos of your visit. Jewelry selections range from costume to fine, including selected estate jewelry, a line of freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones, and interesting and beautiful rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets and cuff links made from blue and white Chinese export porcelain set in sterling silver.
