Published by the Maryland Center for History and Culture since 1906, the Maryland Historical Magazine is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal read widely by specialist as well as general audiences. The magazine is an indispensable resource for scholars, teachers, families, librarians, archivists, students, independent researchers, and the general public.
Since its founding in 1844, publishing has been central to the mission of the Maryland Historical Society, which owns and operates the Maryland Center for History and Culture. Currently, more than 100 book titles in the Library of Congress collection bear the Maryland Historical Society’s imprint. These engaging, thoroughly researched stories continue to contribute to our knowledge of Maryland’s past. Please see our website for manuscript submission protocol.
The Maryland Center for History and Culture is committed to discovering and publishing the finest new research on Maryland history. Since 2005, Friends of the Press has raised funds to bring new titles into print. Join us in filling in the unwritten pages of Maryland history.
