Our gallery exhibits include artifacts from Africa, Southeast and Central Asia, the Pacific Rim, Central and South America, and Native Americans in the U.S. Other exhibits also include an extensive drum exhibit, international clothing room, and Weapons Wall.

The Museum is along the access road on U.S. 67, between Danieldale Road and Main Street in Duncanville. There is handicapped parking access

Spanish tours are available upon request.

Mission

To be a window on indigenous people of the world and to create greater appreciation for ethnic and cultural diversity, thereby furthering mutual respect and peace between peoples.

History

International Museum of Cultures was developed by linguists and anthropologists associated with SIL International (Summer Institute of Linguistics). For the last several years, IMC has been independent of SIL and Wycliffe Bible Translators. The museum now focuses on anthropological perspectives and research in representing indigenous groups, but retains some of the linguistic focus of its founding.

Artifact Collections

Over 2,000 pieces from every continent except Antarctica.

Programs

We offer a variety of educational programs to suit your needs. Our trained docents can lead groups of all ages through our exhibits. Or bring the museum to your classroom with one of our 12 themed Discovery Boxes, which include touchable museum objects and curricula with relevant TEKS. For electronic access to the museum, try our Electronic Field Trip, which also includes a curriculum with TEKS.
