The Ralls Historical Museum has 15,000 artifacts. There are 6,000 square feet downstairs and upstairs.

History

The Ralls Historical Museum was founded in 1969 and opened to the public on March 6, 1970. The building was donated by Alma Ralls Hendrick and Pauline Ralls Watkins. They are the nieces of John R. Ralls who was the founder of Ralls, Texas.

Artifact Collections

There are 22 exhibit galleries focusing first on settlers and founders. Also included in the galleries are Native American cultural materials; women's work exhibit; period room; veterans; home and family living; music; school and chapel exhibits; business exhibits covering banking, dentist, funeral preparatory, doctor office, barber shop, and beauty shop; mercantile and Western galleries; and agricultural hand tool exhibits. Fifteen thousand pieces make up the collection. One of the outstanding rooms in the museum is the Veteran Room. It has pictures of veterans from this area, uniforms from all four branches of service, and different articles from all the wars and conflicts. It is one-of-a-kind in this area.

Programs

The museum has several school tours each year. Schools from all over the area participate. The museum doesn't loan out entire exhibits. The museum participates in after school classes on History through the Ralls ISD EDGE classes.
