The Nave Museum is a fine arts museum, hosting traveling exhibits both modern, as well as classical. Many of the exhibits shown are from artists around the country, and most specifically from Texas. Well known artists Andy Warhol, Mary Cassat, Joan Mitchell and Frieda Kahlo have been shown at the Nave.
Royston Nave was an accomplished artist who enjoyed a prolific and successful painting career both in Texas and New York. His primary interests were the people and landscapes of Texas. The Nave Museum, a neo-classical style temple located at 306 W. Commercial in Victoria, Texas, was built by Mrs. Royston Nave in 1932 to serve as a memorial to her late husband, Royston Nave, who died suddenly in 1931. His portraits are beautifully expressive as they capture a moment in time. Royston Naves landscapes are impressionistic in style. You can see his fondness for the sea and boating in his seascapes, some of the very best of his landscapes. The Victoria Regional Museum Association owns a great many of Royston Nave's paintings and his works are currently the only artwork being collected by the Association. The Nave's collection of his paintings is only exhibited once every several years so that the Nave can present its many exciting traveling art exhibits to the public.
