Exhibits

Security Forces is the largest career field in the Air Force with one in five Airmen being a Defender. Explore the different jobs within this career, and see how the career field has changed through time.

Through out the museum are many displays, and memorials acknowledging the achievements and honoring memories of Defenders from 1948 till today. With a special place of honor for fallen Defenders.

Mission

The United States Security Police Museum (renamed the USAF Security Forces Museum in 2007) was established on November 5, 1979 to honor all Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired Air Force Security Police personnel and to preserve the history and heritage of the career field.

History

The United States Security Police Museum was established on November 5, 1979. On 31 October 1997, the Security Police became the Security Forces, with all individual specialties being merged into one Security Forces specialist AFSC. The Security Forces brought back the principles of Safe Side, transforming the Security Forces into a combat force. The Museum was renamed the USAF Security Forces Museum in 2007 to reflect the career field's more robust mission.

Artifact Collections

The exhibits contain a variety of artifacts and archival materials that tell the story of the career field. From uniforms representing all eras, meaningful oral histories, and one of the largest [demilled] weapons collections in the US Air Force Museum System. Due to staffing, only Items on display may be viewed. Please contact the Museum for more information.

Research Collections

Governance
We Are A Federal Museum

The USAF Security Forces Museum is an Annex of the USAF Airman Heritage Museum. USAF Field Museums display items on loan from the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. (The museum used to be a standalone USAF Field Museum. However, due to recently enforced Air Force Instructions, only one field museum may be located on an installation.)
