Description

Focusing on the history of the North Texas area, the museum presents semi-permanent exhibits on militry, petroleum, ranching and Indian history. Temporary exhibits in the past focused on sports, weather, pioneers, industry and many other topics.

Mission

To collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the history of the North Texas area to inspire an interest in the past for the education and enrichment of people of all ages.

History

Seeing the need to preserve and present the history of the area, the museum organized in 2000. We lease 18,500 sq ft in a building owned by Wichita County. We opened a branch in 2008 that houses a Curtiss JN-4 aircraft that flies the first Sat of the month, weather permitting.
