Description

As the motorcycle industry continues to change with technology, it is critical that the transformation be captured and preserved.
When you walk through the doors you will be transported back in time as you marvel at the extensive collection, dating back to 1903. Cruise in and experience over 170 vintage motorcycles, from Ariels to Zundapps, thousands of photographs, posters, postcards, and pieces of motorcycle memorabilis, plus a fabulous collection of antique motorcycle toys, and more!

History

The National Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame was founded in 1989 by people who love motorcycling. In the fall of 1999, the Museum moved from Sturgis, SD, to Anamosa, IA. The Board of Directors and Museum staff are committed to the builders, racers and riders who laid the groundwork for what motorcycling has become. Their passion lives on through documentation, education and preservation.
In the fall of 2004, the Hall of Fame was merged with the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio. All other exhibits, motorcycles and memorabilia remained in Anamosa. Only the Hall of Fame inductees moved to the Ohio Museum.

Artifact Collections

Many rare vintage motorcycles, motorcycle toys, children's books, postcards, posters and photographs can be seen at the Museum and on the Museum's website: www.nationalmcmuseum.org.
Probably the most famous motorcycle at the National Motorcycle Museum is the original/authentic Captain America Bike from the 1969 movie EASY RIDER.

Educational Programs

Each September, the Museum hosts the Eastern Iowa Sidecar Rally. This is generally the second weekend of the month. Sidecars from around the midwest converge in Anamosa for a weekend of family fun.
