Description

The Garibaldi Museum's mission is to enhance the maritime heritage of the Pacific Northwest by collecting and displaying information concerning Captain Robert Gray and the historic vessels, the Lady Washington and the Columbia Redivivia.
The museum displays models of the two historic vessels, as well as a proliferation of materials on Captain Robert Gray's voyages and our nation from 1787 to 1805. We feel that we have much to offer about our young nation during the age of discoveries. In addition we have local maritime crafts and a photo display of Garibaldi during the early 1900s.

History

The Garibaldi Museum was founded by Charles M. Parkin, Jr., co-author of Captain Gray in the Pacific Northwest. Parkin wanted to build a museum in the vacinity of Gary's discoveries. As it happened, Parkin, built the museum over looking Tillamook Bay on HWY 101. Tillamook Bay was called "Murderers Habour" by Gray's crew when they lost a member of the crew to a skirmish with the native American in 1787.

Artifact Collections

The museum displays models of the two historic vessels, the Columbia and the Lady Washington, as well as a proliferation of materials on Captain Robert Gray's voyages and our nation from 1787 to 1805.
