Description
We’re exhibiting amazing growth!

Expanded in November 2010, our museum offers engaging and educational exhibits and experiences that give children, families and educators twice the space to discover, learn and grow. Years in the making with invaluable input from children, parents, educators, experts, engineers and designers — our exhibits are unlike anything…anywhere. From the challenging concepts found in our landmark Energy Lab to the small wonders of Tot Town and beyond, children will embark on new and unexpected adventures they won’t experience anyplace else.

Hands-on, kid-powered learning!

Exciting and all-awesome, Energy Lab is a wet, wild and wonderful way for children to learn about the science of energy. As they use their boundless energy to explore the million-dollar exhibit, they’ll find a “working lab” that inspires a natural curiosity to imagine and invent.

Designed with the earth in mind.

Bigger, better and smarter than ever, Stepping Stones is LEED Gold Certified and includes solar panels, a “green” roof and even a wind turbine. With a focus on energy-themed education and learning, the museum features a host of innovative exhibits, an Art Studio and Science Lab and exceptional resources for teachers and parents.

Mission

Stepping Stones mission is to broaden and enrich the educational opportunities for children ages ten and under and enhance their understanding of the world. The museum seeks to create an environment that inspires lifelong learning and supports parents, caregivers and educators as facilitators of children's explorations.

History

Stepping Stones opened in March, 2000, and was founded by Gigi Priebe in response to the needs expressed by parents, educators and community leaders actively seeking quality educational offerings to help children learn and grow. Our ability to grow in step with our community and the changing world is due to the thousands and thousands of individuals who believe Stepping Stones is an essential resource in expanding young minds

Stepping Stones Museum for Children is not just any museum. It’s a fun, colorful and engaging environment that recognizes the value of play in promoting learning, creativity and discovery. As a special place where children of all ages are encouraged to explore, invent, test and observe, the museum is a leading destination for schools, groups, families and anyone seeking a “wow!” experience.
