Description

Natural History Museum located at The College of Idaho. It is the only natural history museum in southwestern Idaho, southeast Oregon or northern Nevada.

Mission

It supports education programs at the College of Idaho, provides community resources, houses valuable resources for scientific research.

History

Established in 1891 by Orma J. Smith who taught chemistry at the college.

Artifact Collections

The Helen V. Smith Fossil Leaf Collections; Schumacher African collection, Gates Lewis Anthropological collection, Ruth Meade Basketry, Invertebrate Collections, Birds, Reptiles, Snake River Mollusks, etc.

Museum tours are given by Sharon Brown and can be arranged by contracting Kinga Britschgi (208-459-5211) kbritschgi@collegeofidaho.edu. The Museum is open to the public each Friday afternoon from 1-5pm (always call first to check for any changes).
