The landmark 1853 former Central of Georgia Railroad headquarters, now Kiah Hall, houses the SCAD Museum of Art. The museum is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday 10 am-5 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm. The SCAD Museum of Art, dedicated in May 2002, offers a year-round calendar of exhibitions, lectures, classes, special events, and tours. The museum serves as a teaching museum, with numerous class field trips and special topics classes serving the needs of the college community as well as the broader regional community and the large number of tourists to Savannah.
The mission of the museum and its related study centers is to engage in education, research, collection care and development, campus and public service, and exhibitions and other programming that will promote art historical, cultural, interdisciplinary and cross-cultural studies and dialogue.

The most popular majors are graphic design, film/television, animation, fashion, and photography.
The college has campuses in Savannah, Atlanta, and Lacoste in Provençe, France, as well as online courses and programs. The main urban campus fabric consists of more than 60 rehabilitated historic buildings located in the colonial port city of Savannah (metropolitan area population of 313,883 in 2005), and the campus has been honored with numerous national awards for preservation and urban design from the American Institute of Architects, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and others. Programs in historic preservation, architectural history, art history, and related areas work in concert with the rich architectural, cultural and aesthetic resources of the region.
