The Museum presents the role of the New Jersey Militia and National Guard within the context of the larger history of the state, using original and reproduction uniforms, weapons, photographs, artifacts and art from the period of Dutch, Swedish and British colonization through the War for Independence, Civil War and World Wars I and II to the present day, paying particular attention to the diversity of the New Jersey citizen soldier and his or her experience. The main museum is located in Sea Girt New Jersey on the campus of the National Guard Training Center, there are also annexes at the Lawrenceville Armory.
The Museum was founded in 1980 by National Guard Soldiers seeking to capture the rich history within the State. The Museum thrives today in its current location since 1982, and has taken on annexes at the Lawrenceville Armory.
We currently have a breadth of early 20th century uniforms and weapons. Uniforms, weapons, acoutrments from the World War II era. Vehicles from the World War II era until recently. Rare uniforms from the 1920's and 1930's exclusive to NJ. Reproduction uniforms from the Civil War Era and earlier.
We are currently establishing and coordinating our research collection. At this time our resources are available to our staff and scholars, however inquires to staff are welcome via phone at 732-974-5966 or our website
At the current time the museum does provide for guided tours. In the future we hope to provide educational lectures etc for the public.
