Description

3,000 of the collection's historical and contemporary dolls and teddy bears are on display at the current time. Many of the items are limited editions or one-of-a-kind creations by some of the world's leading doll and teddy bear artists. Visitors love the way the items are displayed in large glass-fronted cases, as well as the beautiful murals in the tea area where customers can enjoy a complimentary cup of tea or coffee. In the future we hope to add changing displays and eventually to sponsor programs by doll and teddy bear artists. The Director also hopes to publish a series of books covering the holdings of the Library.

History

The museum opened in December, 2005.

Artifact Collections

Our artifacts consist of dolls and teddy bears, both contemporary and antique, as well as some related toys and accessories.

Research Collections

The Library contains 10,000 volumes as well as a periodical collection on dolls, doll houses, and teddy bears, and additional resources on toys, puppets, costume, and other related subjects. The materials do not circulate, and there is a daily use fee of $25.00 for the library.

Educational Programs

We have gallery tours. We also have a section on our web site where we list curriculum materials which pertain to our subject area, or to areas of California History which support our exhibits.
