The Clark County Historical Museum is housed in Vancouver Washington's 1909 Carnegie Library building. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is home to four exhibit galleries that feature a dynamic series of exhibits that change throughout the year. The museum also has a research library and is home to The Brautigan Library collection. The museum collection ranges in date from 1200 AD to 1980.
The museum hosts an annual First Thursday Museum After Hours Lecture Series, a spring/summer historic walking tour program, seasonal haunted walking tour program, annual Harvest Fun Day event, as well as other special events throughout the year. A calendar of events and exhibits calendar are posted on the museum's website. The museum also has digitized a number of its resources which are available via the museum website.
The Clark County Historical Society/Museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the cultural history of Clark County and the Pacific Northwest, and to sponsoring educational programs and exhibits for the enrichment of all members of the public.
The Clark County Historical Society (CCHS) originated in 1917 and was legally incorporated on March 29, 1940; the CCHS is a non-profit 501 c (3) corporation. The CCHS is the governing body for the Clark County Historical Museum. The museum opened on May 24, 1964. The CCHS operates the museum in partnership with Clark County and the City of Vancouver. The museum also has a strong partnership with Washington State University Vancouver's History Department, Library, and Creative Media and Digital Culture Program. The CCHS raises 71% of the museums annual operating budget via private contributions and earned income.
