Description

At the Fairfield Museum, visitors enjoy engaging art and history exhibitions ranging from Connecticut’s colonial roots to 375 years of regional history. Programs and fun activities for families and youth include the Holiday Express Train Show, Family Days, Scavenger Hunts, Vacation Camps, the Halloween Spooky Stroll and Interactive Walking Tours exploring the Town Green Campus.

The Meeting Hall overlooking the Town Green hosts lectures, panels and shared discussions led by distinguished scholars, university professors and historians that illuminate history through dialogue and debate with the larger community. Researchers from across the country utilize the unique resources in the Special Collections Library and Reading Room, including genealogy and family papers that date back to 1639.

Blue Star Museums

Blue Star Museums is a program that offers free admission to museums for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

History

The Fairfield Museum and History Center opened to the public on September 16, 2007. Seven years in the making, this educational and cultural facility unveils a vital new chapter in the history of our community.

The creation of the Fairfield Museum and History Center was a community-wide effort, and now it serves as a vital touchstone, a place to exchange ideas, and a center for learning for generations to come. Through its exhibitions, programs and activities, we can explore who we are, learn how our corner of the world came to be, and how our future might unfold.
