Cole Digges, a Revolutionary War hero, built his house in Richmond in 1805. Renovated in 1995, the building now houses the statewide offices of Preservation Virginia, which are open by appointment. The Cole Digges House is located in the Historic Franklin Street District of Richmond.
Our mission is to make Virginia's communities and historic places of memory stronger, more vital and economically sustainable through preservation, education and advocacy.
Since 1889, Preservation Virginia?s efforts have saved more than 200 unique Virginia?s historic places across the Commonwealth.
Today, we have six sites that are interpreted and open to the public. These sites span the history of this great nation.
Learn about history as it was lived through visiting our historic sites.
