Historic Hixon House Museum
La Crosse, Wisconsin
Description

Built in 1859 by prominent lumber baron, Gideon Hixon. Italianate structure with nearly all of its original furnishings.

One can see William Morris style design (although it was Joseph Twyman, a student of Morris, whom designed much of the home) in the carpet, on the walls, and within the color choices. Visitors also are able to see the beautiful woodwork and original furnishings from the late 18th and early 19th century.

Governance

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned by the La Crosse County Historical Society.

Group tours are available year round for groups with 10 people or more.
