The Warren County History Museum focuses on the extensive history of Warren County Illinois since it's inception in 1825. We feature exhibits that examine the agricultural, industrial, educational, and military history of the county and its residents.
The Warren County History Museum strives to collect, preserve, educate, and display historical items, structures, monuments, and landmarks related to Warren County, Illinois.
Originally founded in 1968, the Warren County Historical Society was headquartered in Roseville, Illinois. The original museum was organized in the Roseville High School building, opening to the public in order to share the historical legacy that was collected by county residents. Over time, the Roseville High School building began to fall into disrepair, causing the collections to be put at risk.
In 2008, with the help of local philanthropic organizations, the museum was moved to its present location in Monmouth, Illinois. Since moving to our new location, the museum has continued to expand and increase its visitorship and reach within the community. Today the museum creates exhibits and programming that focus on local history and its relation to the modern day.
The Warren County History Museum's collections focus on the history of Warren County from 1825 through the present. Primary focuses are in the areas of agriculture, industry, education, and the military.
The museum provides educational programming that relates to local and broader American history as it relates to our county. Educational programs include lecture series, book signings, guided and self-guided tours, and docents available in galleries during special events. All educational programming is free to the public.
The Warren County History Museum resides in a former church built in Monmouth, Illinois in the early 2000s. The facility features eight exhibit spaces, three dedicated collection storage areas, an event space (featuring fully equipped kitchen), and parking for approximately 50 vehicles.

The museum is overseen by its board of directors that are chosen to represent the various locales in Warren County. The board of directors meet once a month along with a yearly meeting of the members of the historical society.
The museum distributes a monthly newsletter via email along with an annual newsletter specifically for historical society members.

The museum offers tours of the facility with prior notice given to the museum staff.
We also offer a gift shop that is open during regular business hours and during special events. Gift shop items have a focus on local history as well as items created by local artists.
The museum is also available for rentals, including the use of our kitchen, lecture hall, and special use of the exhibits.
