Description

The museum has the first and only local education Space Center with a sit-in space capsule in Selma, Alabama. The museum displays all history from civil rights to civil war to Native Americans to British to Motherland to historic toy collection to Novelty to Space and beyond. Tourist will visit the slave house and history library that house American wars paintings, and history painting of all nations origins. The museum has one of a kind Souvenirs, Park and Recreation Area and snacks advance order required.

Joe Calton Bates Children Education and History Museum is "Where History Comes To Life".

History

Carolyn Calhoun Bates is the first African American woman to own the plantation, and the founder of first disabilities multi needs center, and children history museum that remains today.

Joe Calton Bates Children Education and History Museum was established in 2000, located in historic Old Town District, and during the 1960 historic Civil Rights Movement on the site of a 1902 former active Plantation.

1902, the plantation formerly name Third Street, changed owners in May 28, 1918,, December 22, 1919, July 29, 1960. Dr. Sullivan (dentist) and Richie Jean Sherrod Jackson formerly first African American owners, and renowned civil rights activities that were personal friends to Civil Rights Leaders Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, and Andrew and Marion Young. Dr. King and Ralph Abernathy planned the historic 1965,Selma to Montgomery March at the Jackson's home. Dr. Jackson's desk remains in his former office at the museum.

The museum designed brings to life visionary history, education and career oriental goals through the love of history. The museum's name sake is a high functional dyslexic Master Mechanical Engineering. As, a child enjoyed the love of arts and hands on projects.

Historic triangle designed facility and site. Fencing for protection and safety, out door rest area that requires portal rest room for special events.
