Under the shade of two hundred year old oak trees, explore historic buildings and travel back in time to experience pioneer life in early Southwest Florida.
The mission of Manatee Village Historical Park is to share Manatee County's history through educational programs, exhibitions and events allowing visitors to reminisce and experience the past while educating them about our shared heritage and developing a new generation of historian in an attractive and enjoyable environment.
Established in 1975 with the move and restoration of the 1887 Old Meeting House Church as a bicentennial celebration project, the Manatee Village Historical Park has grown to encompass 15 points of interest including 9 restored historical structures.
The Manatee Village Historical Park's collections consist mainly of restored buildings from Manatee County's pioneer past, along with photos, documents and artifacts from this period.
Manatee Village Historical Park's educational programming includes permanent and temporary exhibits, field trips for students grade 3 and up, select lectures and historically themed annual events, Manatee History Day (an affilliate of the National History Day program), and outreach programming. All of the afore mentioned programs are available at not cost. Adult group tours are available for groups of ten and up, at a cost of $5 per person, with two weeks advance notice. Admission is required for some annual special event programming.
The Manatee Village Historical Park operates thanks to the support of the Manatee County Clerk of Court's Department of Historical Resources and the Manatee County Historical Commission, Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the pioneering spirit and heritage of the early settlers of the area.
