Description

Postal History Foundation consists of an Education Department, through which students receive free postage stamps for their classroom work. We have a postoffice from 1895, with many postal artifacts from the years since then. We have a working contract postal station, which is the only outlet in the state of Arizona to get all new postage stamp releases. We have a research library, with about 30,000 titles, concentrating on philately, postal history, and US Civil War history. The catalog is on line, and a link is found on the PHF website. We have a philatelic sales department, for US and foreign stamps and other philatelic materials.

History

Founded in 1960, under a prior name, the Postal History Foundation has grown to be one of the premier locations in the US for the support of youth philately, and for the adult and young collectors to do research and study.

Artifact Collections

Postal equipment artifacts, including cancellation machines. Antique postoffice boxes. Records and other paper artifacts from dead postoffices in Arizona and New Mexico. Civil War artifacts of many kinds. Illustrated envelopes from the Civil War period. Maps, photos, picture postcards.

Research Collections

Over 30,000 titles of books, monographs, journals, and other publications. This material is available for use in our reading room, and the catalog is on line with a link site found on our organization's website.
