Description

MACC is a regional art conservation center providing treatment for paintings, paper, objects and textiles; preservation outreach and field service programs are offered as well.

The Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works governs the methodology and standards behind all elements of MACC's treatments and programming. At the core of this code is an informed respect for the cultural property, its unique character and significance, and the legacies of the people or person who created it.

Mission

The Midwest Art Conservation Center is a non-profit regional center for the preservation and conservation of art and artifacts providing treatment, education, and training for museums, historical societies, libraries, other cultural institutions and the public.

History

Established in 1977, MACC has grown to serve over 170 museums and other cultural instituions throughout the United States.

Educational Programs

Disaster response services, workshops and training on a variety of collections care topics for museum staff.

Governance

MACC is a 501c3 Non-profit Organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.

Preserving Art
Services
Professional conservation treatment services include:

Paintings, Murals, Western and Asian works on paper, Textiles, Furniture and decorative arts, Frames, Objects, Indoor and outdoor sculpture, Ethnographic artifacts, Historic artifacts.

Additionally, general conservation and preservation services include:

Environmental assessments, collections surveys, and storage analysis; ?Training workshops and mentoring; Technical information; Loans of environmental monitoring equipment; Emergency response planning; ?24-hour emergency disaster response; Grant writing assistance for conservation projects.
