Mission

The mission of the Southeast Volusia Historical Society is to collect, archive, display, and make available to the public artifacts related to the Southeast Volusia County area. Through the New Smyrna Museum of History we promote interest in, and knowledge of, local history and culture.

History

The Southeast Volusia Historical Society was organized in 1982, as a not for profit organization, to promote a formal means by which individuals interested in historical studies in the Southeast Volusia Area may congregate for their mutual benefit; to promote the continuing study of the cultures of the Southeast Volusia area from ancient time to present and to bring to the attention of the general public and appropriate governmental agencies the continuing importance of preserving historical sites within Southeast Volusia County.

Native American, archaeology.

Research Collections

Archaeology repository of elements related to Florida's British Colonial Time period and the largest British Settlement established in North America.

Educational Programs

We provide guided tours of our award winning Turnbull Settlement Exhibit upon request.

Facilities

Museum gallery space, reference library and archaeology lab space. We also have meeting space available for local area non-profits.
