Description

The Ripley Museum holds over 700 historical items of this Underground Railroad village's past. The stories behind the items for viewing are as entertaining as viewing the items. Historical items have returned to Ripley, OH with the museum as their destination in some very mysterious ways. This is a museum where memories of both shantyboaters and the aristocracy of this Ohio River town come together to reveal the story of Ripley, OH's past.

History

The Ripley Museum began through the donation of an 1850's home to an organization formed in 1975 to plan the town's Bicentennial event. The Ripley Museum became the Bicentennial project of 1976 and continues to be operated by Ripley Heritage, Inc.

Artifact Collections
Items range in time from approximately 1850 to 1950. There are 10 rooms, with furniture dating to the Civil War, Civil War related items, portraits and photographs, vintage clothing, vintage toys, an early school room, a 1920's beauty shop, a garage with

Over 350 photographs, historical documents and books, magazines, and newspapers.
