Magnificent museum of native limestone honoring famed humorist and philosopher Will Rogers (1879-1935)

Mission

Collect, preserve and share the life, wisdom and humor of Will Rogers for all generations.

History

Built in 1938 by the state of Oklahoma on land his family gave to the state after his August 15, 1935 death in an Alaskan plane crash with pilot and fellow Oklahoman Wiley Post. Opened Nov. 4, 1838, the anniversary of his birth in 1879 on an Indian Territory ranch.

Artifact Collections

Filled with personal artifacts and memorabilia, family history, interactive exhibits, hands-on children's museum, theaters and voice on radio replays. One of his 71 motion pictures shows daily.

Research Collections

Papers of Will Rogers, hundreds of books by and about Will Rogers and related publications.

Educational Programs

In addition to guided tours at the Museum for schools, bus tours and small groups, there is a Will Rogers in Schools program with an interpreter who travels throughout Oklahoma and neighboring states presenting programs for schools (and some special events). Most are free (costs for special requests available by calling Museum main number 918-341-0719.)
