Hands-on days held the Fourth Saturday of each month. Please drop in from 11am to 3pm for fun, free projects for children ages 4 to 12. (Notes: June event is at the Shoreline/Lake Forest Park Arts Festival. (In December hands-on day is the second Saturday.) You always get to take home what you make!

The Shoreline Historical Museum exhibits the history of the Northwest King County region, and conducts programs related to that history.

Mission

The Mission of the Shoreline Historical Museum is to serve the public by preserving, recording, and interpreting the heritage of the historic Shoreline area (85th to 205th, Puget Sound to Lake Washington) and its relationship to the surrounding region. The Museum’s service area includes the cities of Lake Forest Park and Shoreline, and the neighborhoods of North Seattle, such as Sand Point, Wedgwood, Lake City, Licton Springs, Northgate, Broadview and Haller Lake. The Museum, through its activities, provides cultural, historical and educational benefits for all, and opportunities to gather as a community.

History

The Shoreline Historical Museum was established in 1975 and opened its dorrs in 1976 as a Community Bicentennial Project. The Museum has been in continuous operation for 36 years in Northwest King County.

Artifact Collections

Community artifacts, memorabilia nd ephemera from Lake Forest Park, North Seattle and Shoreline.

Research Collections

The Barbara Bender Lake Forest Park Collection, The Kay and Hal Schlegel Playland Collection; The Fraley Playland Collection; The Shoreline Pioneer Families Collection; The Ronald, Richmond Beach and Lake Forest Park Schools Collections; The Dille Crime Collection. Clipping files, historic photograph collection.

Educational Programs

Timeline exhibit of community development with artifacts, dioramas, photos and labels; docent-guided tours for both schools and adult groups; out-reach lectures; programs on topics of local history.
