Description

Located in Saukville's original fire house on the Milwaukee River in the heart of the downtown area. Native American history and fur trade, including history of a rural farming community and origianl settler's. A number of geneology and family histories available for research.

History

Began in 1987 and moved to currant location 1998. Two reasearch books written by Professor John Boatmen UW-Milwaukee. Pictorial History book by James and John Peterson. Active participation in our community events. A freindly history minded group interested in preserving the of our community.

Artifact Collections

1912 Horse drawn fire pumper; 1937 Fire Engine; lander decroative copper ornamental metal; Nothern Signal historic games, audio file records and other productions; Cigar makers of early 20th century Heim's shoe store articles.

Research Collections

History of Saukville fire department in written minutes from 1886; Two complete history books, families and photos; Nine family histories.

Educational Programs

In May members orgaize in conjuction with Saukville Elementry a lesson of Wisconsin history in the area. Also tours of the facility in conjunction with the fire department for fire safety week.
