Description

We collect all types of history on Woodstock, Connecticut and its people. Woodstock will have its 325th Anniversary in 2011. We will have a new history out at the end of this year containing around 300 images from our collection.

History

The Society was formed in 1967. We received our The Society was formed in 1967. We received our home in 1990 when the Town moved into its new headquarters and they gave us the Palmer Memorial Hall complex on Woodstock Hill. We are totally runned by volunteers. There are two retired librarians cataloging the collection.

Artifact Collections

We have a large photographic collection with nearly 1,000 glass plate negatives from four to five major photographers both professional and amateur. We also have over 5000 slides and another 1000 prints and sheet negatives.

Research Collections

We have most of the printed works that cover our town and some of the surrounding towns. Clarence Bowens 8 volume history and genealogy of Woodstock Families is one of our main resources. We have available for sale reprints of the history volume No. 1 and can provide the other volumes upon request.
