Description

The Eklutna Village site has been inhabited by the Dena'ina Athabascan Indians since about 1650. Here you can learn about their traditional lifestyle and visit a number of attractions, including the Eklutna Village Heritage House, with historical exhibits and Native art; the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, originally built in the 1830s and reconstructed in the 1970s; the new St. Nicholas Church, completed in 1962; and the Eklutna Cemetery, known for its colorfully decorated "spirit houses."
