With a mission to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the natural world, the Harvard Museum of Natural History presents to the public Harvard’s natural history collections and research of scientists across the University. Its historic displays include the world-famous Blaschka "Glass Flowers"; an extensive collection of minerals and meteorites; fossil, taxidermied, and jarred specimens. New and changing exhibitions highlight current science and address contemporary issues including climate change and new insights in evolutionary biology. The museum offers a wide array of lectures, classes, and programs for learners of all ages from school children to adults. 190,000 annual visitors make the Harvard Museum of Natural History the University's most visited museum.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History was established in 1998 as the public face of three research museums: the Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Harvard University Herbaria, and the Mineralogical and Geological Museum.
Our lectures and programs are open to the public and are held at 26 Oxford Street, Cambridge.
Family programs: The Harvard Museum of Natural History presents weekend afternoon programs for middle-school children and their families. Renowned authors, Harvard faculty, and other scientists offer educational and entertaining presentations on their latest work.
Lectures + special events: The Harvard Museum of Natural History presents engaging lectures and programs to excite the public about natural history. Free and open to the public.
Adult classes: Explore the Harvard Museum of Natural History's collections more closely with a drawing course or workshop on topics in natural history.
Kids' classes, clubs, and programs: The Harvard Museum of Natural History offers hands-on, out-of-school programs for students.
Videos: Watch lectures by Harvard faculty and other scientists and naturalists, presented by the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
Hosting an event at the Harvard Museum of Natural History is an opportunity for private groups and organizations to experience the museum at a time when it is not open to the public.
HMNH event rentals include full access to special exhibitions and galleries, including the Glass Flowers gallery and zoological and mineralogical galleries. The museum can accommodate up to 400 guests for receptions and up to 225 guests for seated dinners. We do not host events at the museum during business hours, daily from 9am-5pm.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History is adjacent to the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, and admission to one museum admits you to both during regular hours.
