TEXAS Association of Museums 2019 Annual Meeting External Event Page
El Paso, Texas
Venue: El Paso Convention Center
Conference theme: Inspired Places Inspire People //// The community in which the museum lives defines its mission, values, and work. As professionals, we want our museums to be relevant, well attended, and meaningful for those who visit. Creating that meaningful place takes more than offering what we believe will resonate with the community. It takes the museum being an integral part of that community and a willingness to be responsive and adapt. //// People, history, culture, and geographic locale all uniquely define a place. In Texas, our geographic range, cultural influences, and cross-cultural history creates a landscape of museums that are both vastly different from each other and yet share the same commitment – to reflect the community in which they are a part. //// El Paso is the largest US/Mexico border community with an active and vibrant bi-national population. Often described as 3 states (Texas, New Mexico, Chihuahua, MX); 2 countries; 1 region, the Borderplex is rich with art, history, and cultural institutions that will offer a unique backdrop to explore how museums may be inspired by place and inspire people.

Museum Association of New York 2019 Annual Conference External Event Page
Cooperstown, New York
Venue: Otesaga Resort Hotel
What does it mean to be a New Yorker? What does it mean to be a New York museum? These were the first questions we asked ourselves when we started planning for the 2019 Annual Conference, Access & Identity. As our conversations progressed, the idea of identity led to the issue of access, and how the two go hand in hand. As you consider what you want to bring to the table in Cooperstown, ask yourself: What should our role as community anchors and preservers of our cultural heritage be in shaping the identities of our communities? If we believe in our missions of creating access for all, we in turn foster environments for intellectual growth and cultural exploration. During a time in which identities are being used to create separation and difference, we are in a uniquely powerful position to use our passion for cultural heritage to create inclusive environments where individuals of all identities can come together and explore the wonderful culture and history of New York.

2019 Ohio Museums Association’s Annual Conference: Sharing Culture – Enriching Communities External Event Page
Akron,, Ohio
Venue: Hilton Akron-Fairlawn
For many, museums serve as community anchors – as gathering spaces and vibrant neighborhood cornerstones. In those communities, museums are places to learn, to reflect and to share ideas. But how can all museums ensure they are best serving their community’s needs? How can we empower our guests to feel ownership of the museum as their space - a place that reflects not only their story, but the greater story of humanity and our ever-changing world? How can museums continue to grow as the best stewards of our shared cultural heritage? Join us in Akron, April 14-15 as we explore these topics and more at the 2019 Ohio Museums Association’s Annual Conference: Sharing Culture – Enriching Communities.

AAM 2019 Annual Meeting and Museum Expo External Event Page
New Orleans, Louisiana
Venue: New Orleans Marriott & Convention Center
oday’s museums are re-examining their role and connection to communities in new ways. There is a growing understanding that our institutions’ long-term viability and financial sustainability is inextricably linked to our ability to be relevant, magnetic, and inclusive. Digital technologies are refining and improving traditional functions such as ticketing, marketing, and fundraising – in addition to driving personalized experiences and new abilities for museums to connect with increasingly tech-savvy audiences. Innovative partnerships with for-profit companies and within mutually aligned sectors like health and education may provide museums access to the financial and technical capacity to help them scale their work. At the 2019 AAM Meeting and MuseumExpo in New Orleans, we will explore how museums are meeting these challenges head-on. We will learn from each other’s trials and errors and connect with colleagues who can help us grow and tackle our own challenges. //// Also, Exhibit at MuseumExpo is the largest gathering of museum professionals. Connect with high-level decision-makers such as directors, curators, financial officers, exhibit design professionals, educators and registrars. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet face-to-face with qualified buyers to showcase your new and innovative products and services to more than 5,000 museum professionals seeking cost- and time-saving solutions for the museum field.

Country School Association 2019 Conference External Event Page
Adamstown, Maryland
Venue: Claggett Center
The Country School Association of America will hold its 2019 annual conference in Maryland—just outside our Nation's Capital—providing an opportunity to focus on country schools from a national perspective. We'll consider this local/national juxtaposition—still relevant today—at our June 2019 gathering.

The Fire Museum Network 2019 Seminar External Event Page
Los Angles, California
Venue: To Be Announced
It is a mix of formal presentations, informal discussions, and tours of local fire and non-fire museum sites…. It’s educational seminars about both operating a museum and firefighting history…. It’s for those who are just starting a fire museum, and those who have been around a while…. It is a time to learn, and a place to see and hear what dozens of other museums are doing (or perhaps what they should be doing)…. It is a chance for you to share problems and solutions, exchange ideas and information, and compare your organization with others…. It is an opportunity network. It is late nights spent discussing how many steam fire engines are left in the country, new exhibit techniques, or the merits of the latest museum collections database program. In short, it's… great friends, great food, and a great fun!
